Business of healthcare

Healthcare represents a significant investment opportunity in the country. There is a lot of pressure on public hospitals. The public hospitals are in a poor state and thus not meeting the needs of the population. This makes room for private providers. The challenge is however that they will need to access capital, investment incentives, skilled workers, easier procedures and regulations; and risk pooling mechanisms that can mobilize revenue for investors;

Medical tourism- people who seek quality treatment abroad or where the cost is relatively lower leaving them with enough money to tour the host country as part of their recuperation. With the cost of health care souring abroad due to economic down turn Zimbabwe should be well positioned to become a medical tourist centre.
